LearnWithAI for IntelliJ
Puts learnwithai.unc.edu in a sidebar inside IntelliJ IDEA, right next to your code. Works with IntelliJ IDEA 2024.2 or newer, Community or Ultimate.
Install (about 1 minute, once)
- Copy this link:
- In IntelliJ, open Settings (⌘ , on Mac, Ctrl Alt S on Windows/Linux) and choose Plugins.
- Click the ⚙ gear at the top, choose Manage Plugin Repositories…, click +, paste the link, and click OK.
- On the Marketplace tab, search LearnWithAI and click Install.
That's it. Updates arrive automatically, just like any other IntelliJ plugin.
Use it
- Click LearnWithAI on the right edge of the IntelliJ window.
- Sign in with your UNC account the first time. IntelliJ remembers you after that.
The small buttons in the sidebar's title bar are Home, Reload, and Open in Browser. Links to sites outside UNC open in your normal browser.
If something goes wrong
- Sign-in gets stuck: click Open in Browser in the sidebar's title bar and use LearnWithAI there, then let your instructor know.
- "LearnWithAI" doesn't show up in the Marketplace search: check that the link in step 3 was pasted exactly, then search again.
- Can't add a repository (e.g. a locked-down lab machine): download the plugin (version 1.0.1), then in Plugins click ⚙ → Install Plugin from Disk… and pick the downloaded file. This copy won't update itself.
